Six Word Saturday

Preschool.  Is there anything more scary?

Little man is starting preschool this next week. I am not sure who is more scared him or us.  We had been talking about starting him in preschool for the past year but just never got around to it.  And quite honestly not sure he was ready for it this past year so I think it all worked out.

But now the time has come.  We went to the parent open house this past week.  It is a really GREAT program.  The older two children actually went to the same preschool and several of the same teachers are still there.  If you do the math, that is a long time.  A few teachers have been there for 17 years!

We are still a bit scared for him though.  He has only ever been with family members for care other than at Sunday school.  And there he is a bit timid at times even though he knows the teachers and the kids.

I know most kids are pretty resilient with change and adaptable but still a little bit nervous for him.  It might be a rough couple days til he gets used to the change.  It is only Mon, Wed, Fri so at least on Tue & Thur it will be his same routine that he is used to.

Wish us luck!  I will report back how it goes next week.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

  1. Been there and am there. I cried when my 5 yo started pre-k and yesterday I sent him to kindergarten (sniffle, sniffle). I'm now starting my 2 yo in pre-k in November (torrential tears). Hang in there - they're resilient.

  3. I do hope it goes well for him. My first guy was a bit overwhelmed for the first hour or so, but by the second day he was loving it.

Enjoy it, it's a very special time (mine are all teenagers now).

  5. Scary times. My boys were so bold, brave and outgoing that I think it was only me who was overwhelmed by preschool.

Fingers crossed that all goes well (for you and for him)

  6. I remember those days, mine is going into 9th grade! I know many mom's want to keep their kids at home, but my daughter is an only child, so pre-school was very important for her social skills! She loved it, except for nap time!
