This Is ME!

So I have written this post a few times since I posted my 6WS post about Accountability and my Operation Shed Some Pounds plan for the New Year.

And just so we are clear, this is NOT a New Years Resolution.  I never make resolutions since those tend to be broken more often than not.

This is a WHOLE lifestyle change.

:::Eating better.

:::Exercising more.

:::Everything in moderation.

This is a goal that I intend on reaching with flying colors.

As I looked at this picture today....several emotions came into play.  Sadness, disgust, disappointment...  I know that my weight does not define who I am or my self worth, but if I am to be honest, I am disappointed in myself to have "let" myself go for this long.  It is TIME.

This is ME today but will not be ME tomorrow.

My starting weight on 12/27/12 was 279.6! The heaviest I have ever been.  My goal is to lose 75-100 lbs.

Today after working out the past 4 days I am down 6lbs!  I know alot of that is water weight and from the shock to my body but I will take it!

You may have noticed I have a ticker on my side bar that I will update periodically. I think what I am going to try and do is a weekly post about my weight loss journey.  Maybe give it some clever name like Weigh In Wednesday.  I probably won't post a picture every time but I will give you a run down of the progress and what I have been doing to accomplish it.

Won't you join me?

If there are others resolving to lose weight this year, please comment or email me so we can be of encouragement to one another.  If there is an interest I *might* even create a linky for others to link up weight loss posts on Wednesdays.  What do you think?

  1. I see your determination and I love the little bicycle girly! I know you guys were trying vegetarian for a while...did you like that? We are inspired more often than not to eat healthy meals by watching Netflix documentaries about it. Such as Food Matters,Veducation,Food Inc.,Fat Sick and Nearly Dead...those are good for starters.

    I'm right there with you,eating healthy, exercising,feeling more energetic....keep it up!

    1. Thank you Courtney. We did do the vegetarian but I often times had issues with my iron and not getting enough protien even when I thought I was. The last visit to my dr was that he thought with my body type that being vegetarian was probably a bit counter productive. Although my digestive track seemed to like it most often than not, other than that the cons started out weighing the pros. So with that being said, we are back to eating more lean meat just everything again in moderation. I will have to check out those movies. I do already feel more energetic and with each passing day, working out is getting easier and easier.

  2. You go get 'em girl, I believe in you achieving this. So sorry about the chocolates - they were truly not intended to be a distraction. I thought it might be nice for the kids to try chockie bars from another country - my kids loved it when I bought some back from the US.

    Good luck on your health journey, I aim to continue my no sugar, healthier life style this year. I'm probably aiming to drop 5-10 kg with a little more effort on my part this year. Giving up smoking has contributed to my battle.

    I'll be here cheering you on :-)

  3. Hi there! I'm definitely trying to **finally** get healthy and fit this year; and would love to join in a linky for support. I'm already planning on my first Weigh in Wednesday post next week. Keep up the good work, and I'll be back soon to see how everything's going! (btw, following on twitter now!)

  4. I did a Weigh In Wednesday on my blog last year, until I leapt off the wagon which brings me to where I am today, chunky monkey again. We're flying to Hawaii in 6 weeks so I have no time for excuses now. I met with a personal trainer this morning and I am going to kick my own butt :)

    Good luck on your journey too!

  6. I found your blog through this week's Six Word Saturday, now I'm going through your blog. I'm with you on the weight loss. I'm also the heaviest I've ever been, so I'll team up with you if you'd like. I'll be doing it on my own, so I can use all the support I can get. Good luck to us both! :-)

  8. Good for you, Jenn! I'm with you. I've got major weight to lose (50 - 60 lbs) and I need to just get serious about it once and for all. I KNOW what to do, but I keep putting it off. I need to make EACH moment count. I love your idea of a Weigh In Weds or something to track the progress. Fist bump!

  10. I want to lose 50 pounds this year, although I'd settle for 30. I'm tired of being miserable in my own skin and now that the babies are done, there's no reason I can't go hard core with this. Good luck with your journey as well! (TALU)

  11. By this post alone, I know you are ready to tackle your goal. Unfortunately exercise HAS to be a part of my life. Not only to help speed my metabolism but if I don't I start feeling like the tin man before he got some oil. Good luck girl. TALU - I've just start Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD. It's only twenty minutes. I think I can handle that.

  12. Wow, that's a great idea. I wrote a post before the new year about how I was going to keep my resolution to lose weight - which really wasn't a resolution, but a lifestyle change. I know I can't lose weight or keep it off "just because." For me, I have to believe the garbage I'm putting in my mouth is exactly that. I vowed to read a book about how bad sugar is for me (I read it before and I cut sugar out a lot, but have since forgot what I read and gained the weight back) then watch DVDs about bad food - like Super Size Me, so I won't eat at McD's anymore. Okay, I know people hate this, but I'm going to put a link. If you don't want it here, just delete it, but I'm re-writing my post in your comment. (TALU) http://www.canigetanotherbottleofwhine.com/2012/12/how-to-keep-your-new-years-resolutions.html Good luck with the lifestyle change. Look forward to watching your ticker tape - 9.8 pounds gone already. Nice!

  13. telling someone ALWAYS works for me - so a weigh in wednesday is perfect-- a way to have you reflect on what you did that made you feel good and gave you favorable results, and things you did that didn't help as much.

    A friend of mine is a health coach, and just launched an app where you take pictures of your food and record how you felt before, after and while eating it. it makes eating a much more conscious effort, which is half the battle for me. if anyone is interested, email me and I'll give you the info on the app. (I don't want to seem spammy on this! haha)

  14. I wish you all the best in your journey and I would like to join you. As a Weight Watchers lifetime member who also used to work for Weight Watchers, I am ashamed to say that I am probably 50 - 60 pounds OVER my goal weight. Can't say for sure because I have not been on the scale in at least a year. I need some motivation desperately. Accountability is everything. You can do this! And I think I can too. ~Joell @ Red Van Ramblings

  15. I sooooo NEED to take this journey with you, but I'm at a point where I feel like I don't even know where to begin. I had once lost a lot of weight and kept it off for several years, but that meant working out for 3 hrs a day. I can't even imagine that now. I also always manage to injure myself somehow, so I know I should start off with just walking to get into some sort of routine. I think I need someone to physically drag me out of the house and kick my butt to get me going! Maybe I'll "lose" vicariously through you for a while and be inspired to jump back into life. :)

    1. Start out with small changes, that is all it takes and work your way up to the bigger things. If you move more today than you did yesterday, thats a plus. Drink lots of water, portion control, you know how it works I am sure. You can do it!
