Confessions of a Non Superwoman #9

And so it is confession #9.

You know you are not a superwoman when....

1.  Instead of window clings for your sliding glass door so little kids don't barrel right through it (because it is so *clean*), we have massive amounts of hand prints/fingerprints.  Our glass door looks like a crime scene!  No chance whatsoever for people to walk right through it.  You can't miss it even if you tried really hard!

2.  My husband *finally* broke down and cleaned out the fridge. Remember this has been on *my* to do list for ages and upon ages.  (Hmmm, I might be onto something).

3.  Kaylyn, 5 minutes before we left for church this morning, decided she wanted some chocolate pudding, out of the garbage!  Nice.  Where was mom and dad, you ask?  I was frantically looking for the bible and dad was brushing teeth.  We had to make a quick bee line to the changer to clean her up and change her clothes.  I can't remember the last time we were on time to church.  I guess pudding is no worse than Hot Pockets, right?

4.  If there was one thing I was going to do this past weekend it was go through some of the kids clothes and weed out the smaller sizes.  I did it but now I have 4 baskets full to sort and figure out what to do with them.  More work!  Arghh!  (Most of the time I give to Goodwill however of late I am finding I like to give to charities for people in need who can't even afford to shop at Goodwill).

5.  Last week when I cleaned out the bathroom garbage cans, I totally considered throwing them away and buying new ones.  That is how gross they were.  Seriously.

6.  And on the same subject of buying new things, one of my blogging buddies, Diaries of a Grumpy Grateful Mom,  had a great idea about getting a new van because of the pungent smell in it.  Another thing I seriously considered.  Ha!  I found the culprit though.  A Tupperware with left over salad dressing in it was under a seat. Pew-wee!

As Bugs Bunny would say, "That's All Folks!"

Six Word Saturday

Good day!

Hope everyone is having a Fantabulous Saturday.

I am linking up with Cate over at Showmyface.com again because I *love* it.  Want to have fun with us?

Then describe your life at the moment in 6 words.  It can be serious, fun, whatever you want because it is your life and your 6 words.  If you want you can explain it, post images, etc.  It is all up to YOU!

Countdown has begun for Sunriver trip!

Whoo-hooo!  We are heading over to Sunriver for a much needed mini vacation next week.

I can't wait!

Just me, the family and 5 glorious days of a whole lot of nothing.  Well probably something but for the most part we are going to fly by the seat of our pants and go with the flow.  The condo we rented has a pool so I am sure we will spend some time there and we are not too far from Bend which is a mecca of touristy type stuff and LOTS of good restaurants (and well reknowed brewerys).

Ohh and we can not forget about Mt Bachelor although not sure what the driving conditions will be there since it is a year round ski resort.  The last time we headed up that mountain we got into an accident.  We did a 360 and ended up in a snow drift.  Other cars literally stopped and watched us on both sides of the highway.  It was in total slow motion.  We were fine but our Nissan Xterra, not so much.  Luckily, it was still driveable since we were far from home.  I would hate to have seen that tow bill!

What are you up to today?

Co Sleeping

You either agree with it OR you don't.

This seems to be a *hot* topic of debate from time to time that does not have a grey area. It is black or white.

I see both sides of the coin.  I was a non co sleeping parent for my first two children.  I was *super* young when I had our oldest daughter and so everything was by the book.  Sleep in the crib, on side, no heavy blankets in crib, no stuffed animals in crib...You get the picture.

When the second child came along a few years later I relaxed a little bit but he was a good sleeper and slept well in his crib so I never messed with a good thing.  He had a comforter and I even think we propped up a few cute stuffed animals at the foot of his crib.

And then I had the 3rd & 4th child.  This is where co sleeping entered our life.

It started off casually and innocent enough.  First with Hayden starting back in June 2007. Second with Kaylyn starting back in May 2010.

I would *obviously* be up several times in the middle of the night feeding the baby.  Instead of putting them back in their bassinet where they seemed to "not sleep like a baby" I would snuggle with them in our bed.  They slept so much more sound when right next to me, skin to skin.  They could hear my heartbeat. They could feel my warm breath on their cool little bald heads. I could feel them breath.  Often times we both slept pretty sound and for longer increments.   It was all good.  I didn't think twice about it.  It became a habit.  This was part of our special times, just snuggling and drifting off to sleep.

It is now July 2011.

Hayden gradually graduated to his bed at around age 1 1/2-2, not that he never slept in his crib/bed prior to that but often times he would start out there and end up in with us. Half the time, I wouldn't even know he was in with us until I woke up in the morning, that is how *dog* tired I was.  Thankfully, he now sleeps in his bed, starts out in his bed and most days wakes up in his bed.  I would say 3 out of the 7 days I find myself with a sliver of the bed and a leg or arm intertwined with mine.

Kaylyn, is 14 months.  We have this beautiful crib that she has never *really* slept in. Seriously.  She has been in it a few times when I need her confined for short periods but mostly she sleeps with us, still.  And combine her now with on occasion Hayden in with us, does not make for a good night sleep.  We only have a queen size bed so you can only imagine how packed in like sardines we are.  No wonder why my neck and back ache daily.

I know we *should* get her into her crib because the longer we do this dance the harder it will be to break her from it but I *love* co sleeping.  I *love* that special bonding time. I *love* that she still likes to snuggle up under my chin, lays her head on my chest and falls fast to sleep.  Heck, half of the time I am not too far behind. I *love* softly stroking her little head as she gazes up at me.  I *love* the smell of my little girl.  I just *love* the closeness.

I know everyone has their opinions about co sleeping and maybe we are still co sleeping for my own selfish reasons (I have analyzed this for a while now).  But I am not ready.  She might be.  I don't know.  She is our last baby so I think I am going to milk it as long as I can (or until my husband says enough is enough which I think he likes the snuggle time too so it may be awhile).

Good Night!  I am off to co sleep with my baby!

Do you co sleep now or have you in the past?  What were your reasons for co sleeping? Was it hard to *wean* the child?  At what point did you *wean* the child from co sleeping?

(Found this cute picture however not a true depiction of our family since we only have 4 kids and 1 has recently moved out...but you get the picture.)

What I'm Lovin'

As many of you know, I am pretty low maintenance make up wise but recently I found a foundation that I fell in *love* with and I am sticking with it for the long haul!

Rimmel Clean Finish.  Between this and my Out of Africa Shea Butter Bar that I use, my face is as soft and smooth as a baby's butt.  LOL!

So glad it is garage sale weather in our neck of the woods.  Last weekend we hit a few garage sales on our way to the local splash pad and I found a few great finds.

I am lovin' my banana holder and my silver shabby looking candle holders.  $1.00 for the banana holder and $1.00 for both of the candle holders.  Hello!  Can't beat that!  I *heart* garage sales!  Aren't they purdy?

Check these out.....

These babies are gorgeous! There is nothing like fresh tomatoes!  I bought these at the Portland Farmers Market and have been cutting them up for our salads the last couple days. I also diced one up to put in some guacamole that I made. I can't wait until our tomatoes in our garden are ready.

With the summer upon us nothing is quite better than sitting on the patio of a local Mexican restaurant (or even better on the beach in Mexico) eating chips, salsa, and guacamole (and maybe a cold Cerveza) but since I won't be doing that anytime soon, I guess I will have to make my own.  (Now too bad mine didn't look like this; maybe a tad bit)

Seriously, I can eat chips, salsa and guacamole for a meal (and did).  LOVE IT!  And I read somewhere not too long ago that guacamole actually helps fight crankiness because of the magnesium in the avocados.

Now there is even more of a reason to *love* guacamole! Maybe I should eat it by the barrel because man have I been cranky lately.

And last but not least, I am lovin' these beautiful flowers that were so graciously sent to me by one of my newest clients at work.  How cool is that?  It is so nice to feel appreciated in this unappreciative world.

Hope everyone has a great day!
