6 Year Old Logic

Conversation I had with my 6 year old a couple weeks ago:

Mom:  I left your clothes out on the dresser for school tomorrow.
Hayden: Ok, it is gym tomorrow.
Mom: Perfect.  I left your sweat pants out.
Hayden:  Make sure you leave a short sleeve shirt.
Mom:  A short sleeve?  It's really cold out.
Hayden: Because if you make me wear a long sleeve shirt then it will cover up all my energy and then I won't be able to run fast.

There you have it.  If you want to have lots of energy and run fast make sure to wear a short sleeve shirt. If only it was that simple; my closet would be stocked full of short sleeve shirts and I would be running marathons everyday.  Just sayin'.

Ohh wait, he's wearing a long sleeve shirt.

Kids, they say the darndest things.

Happy Saturday!  And Happy Mother's Day (tomorrow) for all of my MOM friends out there!  Hope you have a blessed day surrounded by your littles or biggins.  And I hope they treat you well.

Recipe Fail

Every now and again, I will see a recipe that I just have to try.
Sometimes they turn out ahhhsome....
and sometimes such as this one, not so much.

Try as I might, you just can't win'em all.

These like Kale Chips seem to allude me....
Either I use to much olive oil.
 Or not enough.
Cook to long.
Or not long enough.
BUT
One of these days.
I.WILL.GET.IT
AND.YOU.WILL.EAT.THEM.
AND.YOU.WILL.LOVE.THEM.
BUT that day is not today.

You may have seen this recipe going around on
Facebook as a sponsored post...

I tried to make the Zucchini Chips 3 times and it was a total failure. The only possible way for them to come out like the picture is to deep fry them.

This is what they should look like.

I was to embarrassed, ashamed, disgruntled,
to take a picture of mine.
But let's just say, they were not
golden brown and crispy.
Some were burnt. Some were soggy.

They looked more like this.
A pinterest fail.
This is not my picture.
But you get the picture.

Wishful Thinking

If only I actually did, everything I thought about doing.

LOL.

Can you relate?

I seriously make mental lists several times a day, always having these grandious intentions....and then....

Wait for it.

I am lucky if maybe one or two things actually get done.

I think quite honestly if one or two things get done on that list, then the day was a success.

Take for example yesterday.

I woke up.  Had a mental list of "to do's" a mile long.

1.  Get my tire that has been in the back of my car fixed.
2.  Run to the Dollar Store to get a couple gift bags.
3. Grocery shopping.
4.  Go with husband/son to get hair cuts, new pair of shoes.
5.  Move the bookshelf out of the closet downstairs put in kids room.
6.  Tackle the never ending pile of laundry.
7.  Clean the bathrooms (really clean the bathrooms; not just a quick wipe down)
8.  Clean out the refridgerator.
9...the list goes on an on.

You get it.

Out of all the above.  The one item that I was able to actually complete. #8.  I just couldn't stand it. Never made it to any of the other items.

Instead, I spent the morning just hanging out with the littles, went to Tyler's basketball game in the afternoon and then met up with my oldest daughter for Happy Hour and a movie in the evening.  Much better alternatives, I think.

If only I actually did, everything I thought about doing...I wouldn't have the time nor energy to spend quality time with my kids.  I will take that any day over a spotless house.  How about you?

10 Things I Learned During Spring Break

It is Spring Break in these parts.  I took the week off of work to spend some quality time with my kids, perhaps get few much needed house projects completed, a little spring cleaning and a little fun thrown in there at times.  Ha!  Wow, what was I thinking?  I obviously wasn't.

Here are my Lessons Learned in no particular order, as they are all equally important life lessons that I am willing to share with you.  You're welcome!

1.  If you live in the PacNW, it WILL rain during Spring Break.  EVERY.SINGLE.DAY

2.  If you live in the PacNW, you BETTER have indoor activities in mind.

3.  If you don't have indoor activities in mind, planned, etc...by about 10am, cooped up in the house, you will lose your marbles.  EVERY.SINGLE.DAY

4.  You really can say "Get out of the refridgerator" a thousand times, along with "Go play in your room", "No, you can't ride your bike in the house" amoung many other things that due to my losing my marbles (on day 2), I have forgotten the rest at this point.

5.  No matter the choices you give your children for breakfast and lunch, after having made their chosen breakfast or lunch, they WILL want what you are having instead.

6.  Riding a skateboard in the house WILL inevitably put a hole in a wall.  And sliding down the stairs on your belly will give you a rug burn.  Don't try this at home kids.

7.  No matter how many times you sweep the floor, pick up the toys, wipe down the counters, two minutes later, crackers will be stepped on, more toys will be brought thrown down the stairs, milk will be spilled.  NEVER.ENDING.

8.  When kids eat lots of strawberries.  They have to go poop A LOT.  (Thank goodness I stocked up on toilet paper).

9.  SpongeBob is ANNOYING.  I used to like him but after watching essentially a SpongeBob marathon one of the said rainy afternoons, not so much.

10.  You will NEVER be able to get both kids to sleep/rest at the same time.  Stop spinning your wheels.   Nap time.  If they only knew what they will be missing.  If I could take a nap everyday, I would.

I love my kids. I do. I do.  And I love spending time with them.  I do. I do. But a little to much of a good thing, can be a buzz kill.  Just sayin.

I like LOVE my sanity and look forward to getting back to routine this next week as I am sure the kids are as well.  Kids like routine. Moms who are used to working outside of the house like routine too.

As a bonus, #11 Stay At Home Moms Rock!

And by the way, the house projects, spring cleaning and fun, not much of that happened around these parts.  LOL.

Photo: Love this pic from earlier today. Miss Kay just a tad bit animated. Lol.
