6 Year Old Logic

Conversation I had with my 6 year old a couple weeks ago:

Mom:  I left your clothes out on the dresser for school tomorrow.
Hayden: Ok, it is gym tomorrow.
Mom: Perfect.  I left your sweat pants out.
Hayden:  Make sure you leave a short sleeve shirt.
Mom:  A short sleeve?  It's really cold out.
Hayden: Because if you make me wear a long sleeve shirt then it will cover up all my energy and then I won't be able to run fast.

There you have it.  If you want to have lots of energy and run fast make sure to wear a short sleeve shirt. If only it was that simple; my closet would be stocked full of short sleeve shirts and I would be running marathons everyday.  Just sayin'.

Ohh wait, he's wearing a long sleeve shirt.

Kids, they say the darndest things.

Happy Saturday!  And Happy Mother's Day (tomorrow) for all of my MOM friends out there!  Hope you have a blessed day surrounded by your littles or biggins.  And I hope they treat you well.

A List of Whys

.....Why is it when I buy tin foil does it take the kids 1.2 seconds to open and unravel half of it?

.....Why is it that when Rose Festival comes every year in Portland does the weather turn to mush.  Rain, Rain, Go Away!

.....Why when there a huge DRY parking lot do your children head in the direction of the ONE puddle?

.....Why when I have the opportunity to take a nap, I can't sleep?

.....Why do the kids want to play with everything BUT their toys?

.....Why when I am not in a shopping mood, do I find the best things?

......Why do I find the best things, when I have the least money?

.....Why does Hayden want to play *drums* on everything but his *drums*?

A lot of these I can probably chalk up to Murphy and his darn Law.  LOL.  Who is Murphy and what does he know anyways?

Dishwasher Fiasco & Church Sermons

Today.

Was.

Good.

I made Potatoes O'Brien for breakfast this morning. SUPER. EARLY. For some reason the kiddos decided to get up at the crack of dawn.  And when the kids get up at the crack of dawn in our house, mom or dad, or both are up too since we know how much ruckus they can cause when left unattended for to long.  LOL.

Did you see our dishwasher fiasco from yesterday?  I posted a picture on my facebook page.

This is what happens when two children are left unattended for to long.  Actually, I don't even know when this would have happened...one of the two putting regular dish washing soap into the dishwasher because Friday afternoon, after I picked them up from grandmas, we ran around quite a bit and we didn't even get home until pretty late in the evening.  Baths, some quiet time and then bedtime shortly thereafter.  Not sure when they would have had the time; they are pretty sneaky though.  I have racked my brain.  When I turned on the dishwasher yesterday morning, a few seconds into the wash cycle this is what our kitchen looked like.  Between this and our refrigerator water dispenser my floors are tending to get quite the cleaning (often).  I probably should have saved this for a confessional post.

By the way, if this ever happens to you, I know how to get the bubbles out of the dishwasher...

Sprinkle table salt on the suds, then put some ice cubes in the bottom of the dishwasher and then when the suds disappear, run the dishwasher with a cup of vinegar (with no dishes).

After breakfast we went to church.  I worked in the nursery today and then stayed for the second service.  I love the little ones.  If money and space was not an object I would "so" have more kids.  At least I get my baby fix since my Kaylyn is almost 2!  Can you believe it.  We were going through old clothes today to donate and ran across some smaller ones that were still hanging around, hard to believe she once fit into them and she is still so petite.  Not sure where she got that from.  But yeah, she will be two on Cinco De Mayo.  And to think we almost lost her last year.  Last year was rough.  This year is shaping up to be much brighter.

The sermon at church today, it was written for us.  I love our church.  So often I find that the sermons that our pastor speaks, speak to us, it is as if he knows exactly what is going on in our hearts.  Seriously, I sat there with my husband and during several parts I couldn't help but whisper to him about things we have been talking about, A LOT lately.  Ways to simplify.  Ways to live a more abundant life in the spiritual and relationship sense.  Ways to be better stewards of the gifts that GOD has bestowed upon us.  Phase 1 of our bigger picture has been put in motion.  I can't wait to share more about this but have to keep some things to ourselves for a little bit longer.

When we got home from church, I made some lunch (delish salads for the husband and I and then PB&J, carrots/cucumbers/ranch for the littles) for all of us, we ate together and then the kids played outside in the sunshine for a while before it was naptime.  They are still napping as I type this.  That is what happens when the littles get up so early.

Today.

Is.

Good.

Because GOD is good

A verse from the sermon this morning.

"But just as you excel in everything...in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us...see that you also excel in this grace of GIVING." II Corinthians 8:7

I hope everyone had a great Sunday and will have an awesome start to the new week.

This So Looks Like My House

Busted!  LOL.

This so looks like our house.  Hayden is such a climber.  There have been numerous times I have caught him in similar situations scaling the counter tops and cabinets.

Confessions of a Non Superwoman #12

It is time.  For another confessional.  Da-Da-Dun.

1.  Remember my A Joint Effort post from a week or so ago?  Well if you don't make sure you visit it.  We had another cereal mishap last night.  Yup, another box bit the dust or the floor.  Man, those kids move fast and not so sure why the cereal is so attracted to our floor. This time though it was just the two little ones.

2.  On Halloween night before the car accident, I was getting Kaylyn dressed in her costume and for the life of me I could not find her black turtle neck.  I knew it was in the *clean* clothes basket that is STILL sitting on our love seat.  But alas, it wasn't.  Apparently, I pulled it out and hung it up in her room so not to lose it.  See what happens when I go and get organized!  I can't find it!

3. One of our kitchen lights went out a few weeks ago and just yesterday, we finally replaced the bulb.  Ditto, on our vanity bulb in our hall bathroom.  Such a simple task (s), but it just gets put on the back burner because of everything else.  You know how it goes, right?

4.  In light of the rainy/cold season that started about a MONTH ago, we FINALLY put our BBQ, patio set, summer toys, etc from our deck/back yard into our shed.  I think that is pretty much the only *productive* thing we did this past Sunday.

5.  Remember when I said I was going to redesign my blog, several months ago, well it is really happening.  now.  I was going to try and do most of it but yeah, that didn't happen so now I have hired a wonderful blog designer to do it.  I can't wait!  Make sure you keep checking back and let me know what you think when we finally upload it.  We are shooting for sometime next week.

Have any shortcomings from your week?  Do tell, so I don't feel so alone.  Pretty please.

Can We Fix It?

Bob, the builder, can we fix it? Bob, the builder, yes we can!

Yeah, not so much in our case.

I am not sure to be happy or sad about this.  Mr. Beanpole, apparently is a bit mechanically inclined (good=happy) when it comes to taking things apart but not so much when trying to put them back together (bad=sad).

Last night as I was preparing a salad for part of our dinner, he was in the back room playing basketball with his brother and his brothers friends (we have a small hoop on the back of T's bedroom door).... so I thought.

I heard them all talking, giggling, including Mr.Beanpole, so I went about my business preparing the salad which literally took me maybe 5 mins max.  It got pretty quiet at one point so I decided to investigate.

And what do I find?

A 3 year old, with dad's tool box items strewn across the bathroom floor, taking my curling iron apart!  He literally took the screws out of the handle and the rod part fell off.  Luckily, it wasn't plugged in and we never did find all the screws.

So this morning, needless to say, I didn't curl my hair which is always nice!  Tried my best to doll myself up using just product and the hair dryer.  Not so sure it worked but whatever I guess, what can you do?  It was too late to head to find a new curling iron last night so looks like that is what I get to do tonight when the hubby gets home.

Fun times!  (I probably needed a new one anyways).

Any recommendations?  ( I am pretty frugal and low maintenence so nothing that is going to cost me an arm and a leg nor one that I have to go hunting high and low for at beauty stores).

Paging Dr. Noodle

Paging Dr.Noodle.....it was that *close* just to make sure there was no Dr. Noodle in the building.

Not sure why Mr Beanpole did not want Dr. Noodle to take care of him, since once I figured out who he was talking about, it just made no sense. When we checked into the Urgent Care on Monday, I made it very clear to the intake person that we did not want to see Dr. Noodle (she giggled) because Mr. Beanpole, did not like him. He was already having issues with going to the doctor in general but was so adament about Dr.Noodle, I just played along with him.  When the Dr came into the office, we made it known that she was not Dr.Noodle.  There was no Dr.Noodle in the building.  He has left the building!

By the way, do you have any clue who I am talking about?

Yeah, it took us a while too but after putting our heads together with Uncle J & Grandma D, all we could link Dr.Noodle back to was "Mr.Noodle" on Sesame Street who seems like a lovely man since I have now watched several of his clips online.

Why, Mr.Beanpole, doesn't like Dr (Mr) Noodle, no clue?  We still haven't figured it out.  But on our 2nd visit to the Urgent Care, same scenario.  We had to be certain Dr (Mr) Noodle was not going to be there.  He wasn't, we were safe to enter and be treated by Dr. B instead.

Funny thing what kids glom on to sometimes.
