Confessions of A Non Superwoman #33

Well, helloooooo there....it is me again! It is about that time now that we have made it through the holiday hustle and bustle...or should I say barely made it through. It was touch and go there for a bit.

But alas, kids are back in school (Thank goodness) and hopefully we can get back to some type of routine. Key word: Hopefully.

Without further ado I give you some of my recent faux pas. Err. Confessions.

1. I live in Northern Idaho. First winter. And man, it was cold here right around Christmas. Snowy. Icy. You name it. I have this handy dandy ice scraper that I am supposed to keep in my purse so when there is ice on my windows, I can scrap it off. And well I left it in the car. The frozen car. Took some time to get into said frozen car to get the scraper so I used a SPATULA instead! Yup. Improvised. Hey, it worked. Until it didn't.

2. Christmas decor. Just took it down on Wednesday. Now ask me if I organized it while putting it back in the bins.  BIG FAT NOPE.  I will just leave it at that.

3. The kids had 2 weeks off of school. I had all these ideas of fun things we could do while they were off but ummmmm, we did pretty much nothing. Such a mom fail. However, my oldest daughter did fall and break her ankle, tore 3 ligaments and fractured her leg the Tuesday after Christmas and then had surgery last Monday so I was helping her a bit instead. That was exciting!

4. While off during the break, zero routine. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Nada. We just flew by the seat of our pants. I **think** there were a few nights where my 15-year-old stayed up most of the night. I went to bed. Or tried to. (I don't tend to sleep much or when I do sleep it is not very sound).

5. You know that Air Fryer I blogged about a couple weeks ago. Still have not used it. I am horrible.

6. New Year's Eve was pretty quiet. I am however still finding confetti under everything and probably will be for the next year. Whose idea was that?  Oh,the person that doesn't help clean it up!  And is it really bad that I wish my kids were young enough that we could celebrate New Year's at 9pm with New York? Used to be in bed by 9:05pm. LOL.  I know, I know. Memories made.

How were your holidays?  Any New Year's Resolutions that you have already failed at?  (I never make resolutions, too much pressure).

Confessions of A Non-Superwoman #32

Hi! Long time, no see. I would say it has been a hot minute since I have been around these parts, but I digress, I think that is how I started my last confessional post back in September 2020.  Wow!

IT.HAS.BEEN.AWHILE.

How have you been?  Survive Covid, I hope. Now right into winter flu season, RSV and a recession...fun times, right? Man, can you believe these prices. Gas. Groceries. Interest rates. Which is a good segway into my confessions.

1. I sent my husband to the store the other day for groceries, trying to save a buck or two so off to Winco he went....OMG! (Sorry I CAN NOT shop at Winco myself, too many people, bagging my own groceries. No. Just. No.)  Well.... that was a mistake for sure.  No savings where had. He even had a list, a specific list. And....$195.03 later! Eggs, $5.08 for 18 pack. Like, what the fudge? Chickens on strike?  (Looks like just good old inflation, supply chain issues that we are STILL dealing with and Bird Flu outbreak)

2.  We SOLD our house and moved to another state this past summer. Yup! It was thought through, not just on a whim. BUT, it seems we sold right at the moment that the bubble burst for sellers and interest rates started climbing for buyers. SOOOOO here we are living in an apartment in a new state for at least a year. It is all good, really, we have a roof over our head, and we are in the same state as my oldest daughter which makes me do the HAPPY dance.

3.  Part of the reason why I have not been around prior to our move was because quite honestly, depression was just kicking my ARS. When my dad passed away in March 2021, I had a bit of a breakdown to say the least which also turned into finding out some things about my own health. (I will probably share more on that story another time). And getting out of bed, keeping a couple kids alive, was pretty much all I could muster up the energy for. So, I apologize.

4.  This year we did a fake tree. Yes, there I said it. A FAKE Christmas tree. I know I will probably lose a few friends over this. LOL. Although, I miss the smell of the pine, I do not miss the mess that comes with it. ALL.THE.PINE.NEEDLES.

Have you seen the Ikea Christmas tree meme floating around out there?  LOL.

5. My youngest daughter pretty much decorated our house on her own. She brought the bins in from garage, pulled out the decorations, put together the tree, put out all of the decorations on counters, windowsill, etc....while the oldest son (who was in town for a visit), and I watched Million Dollar Listings. Yeah, not super proud BUT, what do you do. She was much more efficient than I would have ever been on that day.  (In my defense, we do usually decorate and put up the tree as a family but this year we were all just not totally into it for whatever reason).

Hope your holiday season is going well, whatever you celebrate. AND real or fake tree, I will still be your friend!

Any confessions on your part?  Remember this is a safe space for all. No judgement, we actually celebrate imperfections!!

Confessions of A Non-Superwoman #31

It's been a hot minute...not that I have not had anything to confess because boy have I!

1. I have been so inconsistent in writing on this blog, it is not even funny.  Funny thing, is there still seems to be a bit of traffic, not sure how but ok. Keep a look out for some upcoming changes here.

2. My dishes have literally sat in the sink since Sunday night.  In my defense (since for some reason I feel like I need to defend myself), we started distant learning this week, my son is camped out on our kitchen bar so time in the kitchen while he is zooming, to distracting. And then to clean the kitchen later in the afternoon/evening, what?  I'm tired! LOL. So they have sat for a few days.

NOT.THE.END.OF.THE.WORLD. NOBODY.DIED.

3. AND distant learning.  We are only 4 days in but if I am overwhelmed, even though I am only still supervising at the moment (no major assignments assigned just yet)..I can only imagine how the kids are feeling being stuck on these zoom calls, 3-4x a day.  One thing for certain, I *loathe* zoom calls. Did you get a chance to see this "The Different Types of Students On Zoom" from a few months ago? Which one is your child?

How are you holding up?  Any confessionals? Remember you are safe here!  We are all imperfect and in this together.

Confessions Of A Non Superwoman #30

30!

I have 30 of these types of posts??  What? That is a lot of humiliation.... but I guess it is alright, better to laugh at myself than at others, right PLUS...I like to keep it real around these parts.

I am sure I can easily write 150 of these each week but I'd rather not bore you so I periodically post some of the more meaningful fails just for giggles.  LOL.  I figure when I eventually look back fondly on this little ol' blog of mine, I will at least see how far I have really come.  Can I get an AMEN?

Talking about this little ol' blog of mine.  We go way back (go here to see when it all started) even though I don't write nearly as much lately (last couple years).  I have decided with the help of my, what I like to call life coach (ahh ummm counselor) that I am going to write more, I need to write more. I like to write. It is a good outlet for me, even if it is a silly post every couple days.

So bring on the humiliation....

1. Christmas (holidays) can't happen fast enough.  I know, I know ba-humbug.  I like the holidays, I just don't like the consumerism and all the hurrying that comes with it.  So anticlimatic.

2.  I love to cook but man, lately, I am a hot mess when it comes to actually cooking.  The kids seem to be getting a little bit pickier as they are getting older so I feel like more often than not when I cook what I think is an awesome meal, they are like....nah, not so much. SO...I just don't cook a lot during the week right now.  This to shall pass.  Yes, I still feed my kids, just not a 4 course gourmet meal. (Ha! Who am I kidding, like it was ever gourmet!)

3. I wrote about this I think in my last confessions post which was last year, like 2016, that we haven't had professional Christmas pictures in a couple years and well, not this year, either.  I take lots of pictures, I do, just not professional. Sorry not sorry.  Have you seen some of these?

4. My paperwork at home is getting out of hand. I need an intervention.  I used to be so good and organized with the yearly file boxes with a folder for each month to put all your paperwork in, warranty papers,  bills, etc...and now. THIS.

(Maybe I should contact this company for help Add Space To Your Life)

5. My 7 year old daughter, one morning recently, crawls into my bed, it must have been around 5:45am right before my alarm was going to go off and says..."Mom, why do dogs lick their butt?"   .....
.
.
.
.
.

And I got nuthin especially that early!  Kids, they say the darndest things at the darndest times.  I had to save that one for later.  Still chewing on this one. I think I will goo-goo it. Lol.

Goo-Goo, did you see the Italian lady who was gifted a Google Home for Christmas.  Sooo funny.

Check it out.

Any confessions?  Mom fails?  Dad fails?  Grandma fails?  C'mon, it's safe here.

Until we meet again.

Confessions Of A Non Superwoman #29

Wow.  First and foremost…Confession, I have been totally MIA from this blog for a lonnnnnnnnng time so it seems.  I post every so often on the Facebook page (yes there is a Facebook page) but here not so much.

Life has got the best of me this past year but I really want and need to get back into blogging for an outlet and to preserve my sanity…so here goes it…

1. So you know that holiday where kids carve pumpkins, get candy…yeah, Halloween.  Yeah, so this year no pumpkins were harmed for the holiday.  Not a SINGLE.PUMPKIN.CARVED.  Time.  Just not enough time.

2.  So you know that holiday where you eat turkey. Yeah, Thanksgiving. The mostly meat free carcass is still in the pan in the refridgerator.  I promise it is going in the garbage TODAY.  (in my defense, our garbage was full and garbage day was yesterday rather than put it in a bag to stink up, I waited).

3.  We haven’t got professional Christmas pictures in like forever, no really I think for at least 3 years.  This year I am making an appointment.  I am making an appointment right now (after I finish this post).

4.   I walked into the littles room this morning…and Ohh Emmm Geee.  It looks like we have been robbed.  Serious clutter, toys, clothes, all over. MUST.GET.ORGANIZED.

5.  Times are changing again with work.  Our company announced that we are being purchased and the sale will complete by first quarter 2017.  In a quandary.  Should I stay or should I go.  I wish I had a crystal ball to see the future.

6.  So I promised this post yesterday and well....I got home and my internet wasn't working so...no can do. No super powers available to fix it.

7. As I was driving home yesterday, thinking, (I do my best thinking in the car or while going to the bathroom...I know weird...maybe a little TMI), life is just crazy.  Always going here and there, go, go, go (even more so around the holiday season)...and then this song came on... and it stopped me in my tracks and smacked me upside the forehead... I need to Just Breathe.

Here for your listening pleasure I am posting the video.  Enjoy!

Have any confessions to share? C'mon don't be shy.

Confessions Of A Non Superwoman #28

Wow.

Not sure where to start.

1.    I haven't posted a Confessions post since December and I am certain I have had tons of failures. I think I have run out of paper at this point.

2.  I haven't even written a blog post since May 21.  Here is why.

3.  It has been rough this past year.  3 family members passing.  I have not been handling it all that well on a personal level and it is clearly obvious.  I am a hot mess more often than not.

4.  We have been having a bit of a heat wave round the parts , last couple weeks, coupled with working longer hours, I can probably count on one hand how many times I have actually made a full sit down meal for our family.  It's a wonder why our bank account seems empty and our waist lines are expanding.

5.  I need will power.  I need to will myself to blog more, take more time for myself doing whatever I want and not apologize or feel guilty for doing so (but this is so extremely hard given #7).

6.  I need to let go or just go on strike.  LOL.  So I have a little OCD which has always been a work in progress where I can't just be (for the most part anyways).  For example the floor needs to be swept; if I am home, if it needs to be done, I can't relax until I do it.  And because of my OCD often times I end up doing quite a bit more in the housekeeping arena.  Since OCD is my own issue, I try and own it but on the other hand I feel at times, others take advantage of it.

7.  This is heavy.  Our son Hayden was diagnosed with ADHD about  a year and a half ago.  It makes me angry, sad, depressed, mad, guilty.  I could go on.  I don't talk about it much to many. At times, I feel like we are in our own private heck dealing with what comes with having a child with ADHD.  I know that sounds silly because I know how prevelant it really is (and I know there are plenty of families with children who are much worse with cancers, disabilities, etc so please don't take this out of context).  I hear the statistics.  Our son is now included in that.  My heart breaks.

What are you struggling with? Don't be shy.  I know I am not the only one out there.  I feel sometimes these confessional posts are a bit freeing.  I can validate my failures and somewhat move on.  Not that they go away by any means but....You know what I mean, right?

Summer time fun!

Confessions Of A Non Superwoman #27

Where do I even begin....

So many mom fails, wife fails, etc these past couple months it is hard to pick out a few since I don't want to list them all and overwhelm anyone.

I guess I will start with the mom fails that are the most recent since that is so fresh in my mind still.

1.  Menu Planning.  Ha.  That's funny.  I am flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to dinner these past couple months.  I had EVERY intention of getting back on the bus but it left without me; every week.  Good intentions don't write the list or do the grocery shopping.  Tonight.  We had hot dogs.

2.  This is an old one but sticks out in my mind.  Halloween.  Kaylyn was a princess and we had the most perfect sparkly pink glittery shoes that matched with her dress.  I saw them a few days before Halloween.  You think I would put them up somewhere so they are easily accessible.  Nope, not me.  Come Halloween, they are no where to be found.  I mean nowhere.  I tore our house up looking for those darn shoes.  She ended up wearing her black and pink slip on shoes, that were old and ratty.  Nice, huh.  And then to top if off, when we did find the shoes, they were in the backyard (that is not where I had seen them previously and I have no idea how they got out there but they did).

3.  I bribed my two younger kids with a promise of a piece of candy the other day.  And I didn't even have any candy to give them.  They fell for it.  It was important that I get at least one of them to do the task that I needed done.  I bet you are wondering what it was?  No?  Hmm, well this might be a little TMI but I found myself going to the bathroom with no toilet paper.  I asked nicely several times for them to get a roll of toilet paper out of the other bathroom.  They refused.  I was desperate.  The promise of candy worked. All ended well.  (They forgot about the candy a few minutes later when I turned on Sponge Bob Squarepants to distract them.)

4.  We went and got our Christmas tree yesterday.  We bought it from a corner tree lot.  No cutting it down on a tree farm for us.  It was so cold yesterday.  Sorry, I like to be able to feel my hands and toes.  And even looking at the tress and finding one that we could all agree on at the corner lot, it still took us 10-15 minutes.  My hands and toes thanked me when I got into the warm car. And when we got home, we decorated it but nothing else.  If you didn't see the tree tucked away in the corner you wouldn't know it was Christmas at our house.  (In my defense, I do plan on getting a few more decorations out, but only a few.)

5.  I had a flat tire about a year ago.  Ok, I am exaggerating a bit. I had a flat tire about two weeks ago.  I am still driving on the spare.  I really need to take my other tire in to get fixed and put my original tire back on.  Every time I have a chance, I would much rather do something else then go and sit at the tire shop for an hour.  And now with the bad weather, everyone is heading there to get snow tires on, so I would probably wait several hours.  No thank you.

Alright, I think this has been enough fun for one post.

Do you have any confessions?  Mom fails?  Wife fails?  Care to share.  I am feeling kinda lonely.   And remember, we will not laugh at you but rather with you.

Confessions Of A Non Superwoman #26

Wow.  I just looked up my last "Confessions Of A Non Superwoman" post and it was back in Feb?  Whatttt?

Yeah, that is what I am saying.  I know I have had lots of confessions but apparently I didn't want to blog about them...Who knows.

So here goes it.

1.  I made banana nut bread tonight. That was my dinner.  Ohh and I went to put chocolate chips in them and alas there were none.  Where did they go?  I made some banana nut bread over the weekend and used some and well....in between making the batches, a handful in the mouth here, a handful in a mouth there...All gone.

2.  We moved almost 2 months ago and I still have 3 boxes sitting in my living room....waiting patiently.  (Don't even get me started on what still remains in boxes in the garage...that is a whole 'nother post).

3.  My check engine light came on, then went off.  Then came back on.  Not sure if I should be concerned.  I keep driving the car.  I should probably get it checked before I break down on the side of the road.  Right?

4.  I wrote a real heavy post a couple weeks ago about my depression and I must admit it felt good to get off my chest but it doesn't feel like much has changed yet.  Always a WORK.IN.PROGRESS.  (Aren't we all?)

5.  I just realized that my last Confession post in February, the previous one to that was in November.  And I started out the post with a similar opening.  My bad.  I need to get more original, huh?

6.  I have hard wood floors now...they are nice but I just can't keep up.  I sit in the living room and can see the dust, cat hair, etc all over when the sun shines in the back door.  And I just can't relax until I get up and sweep for the billionth time.  A little obsessive probably but what about you, is there any chore that you regularly do and HAVE to do otherwise you can not relax?

7.  I was suppose to go to my companies new building for a BBQ after work tomorrow.  I forgot to RSVP.  Guess, I am not going.

8.  I really need to find quality after school care for Hayden now that he will be going to a different school for 1st grade.  I am not doing a very good job at it and only have a couple more weeks.  I called a few places. Super duper expensive!  (I only need care for 1 1/2 hrs by the time he gets out of school vs when I get home and most places want to charge for min of 4 hours which is considered part time).

9.  I bought a short cheap hose for our back yard a couple weeks ago and the spout that connects to the spicket already broken.  Nice, huh.  I guess that is what I get for buying a cheap one?  My own fault I guess.  You get what you pay for.

10.  School clothes shopping is coming up this month and I have been so bad, I haven't even looked at our budget and added those extra expenses into the equation....Uggghhh....

I think that is it for now.  I'm good.

How are you?  Do you have anything you want to get off your chest.  Anything eating at you?  Doesn't have to be anything life altering...can be funny, serious, whatever.  We are all in this together.

Talk to you soon.

Ok, so this picture has nothing to do with this post but I thought it was funny...and this is the kind of mood I am in at the moment....A little mischievous.  LOL.

Confessions Of A Non Superwoman #25

Yikes. I haven't done one of these posts since Nov.  No wonder I have so many "confessions" rolling around in my head.

1.  Today is Friday.  This is the first day I have blogged this week.

2.  I didn't even do my Tuesday Archive Link Up hosting duties.....which is a simple post.  My bad.

3.  Second week on the new job.  Still trying to get into a routine.  Not working out very well.

4.  My dishes are piled high in the sink and laundry still lonely sitting on our love seat.

5.  My Weigh In Wednesday post, yeah, didn't happen.

6.  I haven't even gone to the gym this week therefore didn't weigh in and I.AM.NERVOUS.

7.  A few old habits came back this week that I am not proud of.  TIRED. So I have drank a soda a day this week (not everyday but still).  I was doing so good with just drinking water.  MUST.DRINK.WATER.

8.  I keep forgetting my lunch at home.  Made it on a few ocassions and then WALKED.RIGHT.OUT.THE.DOOR. without it. Nice.

9.  Heading to Lincoln City this weekend for T's Basketball Tournament.  Nothing packed.

10.  Nothing packed.  Who am I kidding?  Nothing to pack unless I finish up laundry!

It is going to be a long day!  Up at 4am this morning.  Probably won't hit the pillow tonight until pretty late with work and everything else I need to accomplish before heading out of town in the morning.

Any confessions you want to share?  It would make me feel so much better to know I am not the only one struggling to balance EVERYTHING.

Have a great day y'all!

Ha!  Learning this all over again with new job=new hours.
It is all good though.
